Elton John
Elton John in terms of sales and lasting popularity, Elton John was the biggest pop superstar of the early 70-ies. Initially marketed as a singer / singers, John soon revealed he could court Beatlesque pop and pound the rock on equal aplomb. He could look into the soul, disco and country, as well as classic pop balladry and even progressive rock. His versatility, combined with the efforts of melodic skills, dynamic charisma and brilliant performance made him the most popular artist of 70 years. The son of a former Royal Air Force trumpeter, Elton John was born in 1947. Dwight began playing piano at age four, and when he was 11, he won a scholarship at the Royal Academy of Music. After studying for six years, he left school with the intention to enter the world of music. In 1961, he joined his first group, Bluesology and divides his time between playing with the group, giving solo concerts at the hotel and go shopping for the publishing house in London. John and Taupin were hired by Dick James to become sponsors of his young staff DJM in 1968. The pair worked quickly, with the presentation of many Taupin lyrics - he often wrote songs per hour - in a few weeks. John write music without changing the words, sometimes completing the songs in less than half an hour. In the next two years, the duo wrote songs for pop singers like Roger Cook and Lulu. At the same time, John has recorded version of the current hits for budget labels for sale in supermarkets. During the summer of 1968 he began writing one release under his own name. Typically, these songs more rock-and radio-oriented music that he and Taupin have other singers, and even his first single Phillips, "I've been Loving You too long" and "Lady Samantha," sold well. In June 1969 he released his first album for DJM, empty sky, which has received fair notice, but no sales.
